🙌 Fast Times In The Creator Economy
There Are More Creator Funds, Products, and Opportunities
Over the last weeks, a lot has happened in the creator economy.
1. The Sidemen (the UK's biggest YouTuber group) launched a new $25 Million fund called Upside VC. It's the latest move by the YouTubers who started off by creating content, then launched their own products (vodka, cereal, restaurant, etc.), and are now investors.
2. Whalar Group (one of the leading influencer companies) raised investment from Marc Benioff and Shopify at a $400 Million valuation. This is going to be geared towards expansion and building infrastructure to turn creators into businesses.
3. Creator Ventures just announced their second fund worth $45 Million, with a track record and focus area that goes from creator economy to broader consumer tech startups.
I've been hearing a lot of investors talk about their excitement in opportunities related to influencers or the broader creator economy. The creator economy is still very young but it's going to reshape how we launch consumer products and build media businesses in the future.
The future is creator-led and over the last week we've seen a lot of investors put their money behind that thesis.
